Use & Durability As we all walk and wear differently, we have some advice on how to have your Earth Soles last a long time. Although leather has proven to be a durable material, it does wear through faster than rubber, and so here are some steps you can take to look after your Earth Soles: - Avoid getting them wet - Try to avoid hot, abrasive pavements and tar - Avoid scuffing your feet unnecessarily - Give them some love with some protective beeswax or Dubbin For more tips, please refer to our Care Guidelines

Our Story Our Story Earth Sole’s journey began in December 2020. At a festival on a rainy day in South Africa, founder Anouk Anansi was handed a piece of repurposed leather by a friend. Inspired by the concept of grounding and the wish to connect with the earth’s energy, the idea for Earth Sole shoes was born—a natural, handmade shoe through which sole you would stay connected to the ground. Although started as a personal project, these unique shoes gained interest wherever they were worn, and the realization grew: more people were interested in a shoe that would feel like wearing no shoes at all! In May 2022, Anouk decided to give it a go, and started to spend countless hours perfecting the fit with feedback from people at markets and events. Today, our footwear is proudly crafted by a small, talented team of artisans who work from their homes in Cape Town. "I always get repurposed fabric which is sometimes challenging, as they come in different thicknesses and sizes, but it keeps me creative!" Production Process Production Process Our production process is about 2.5 hours of dedicated handwork. Learn how our Earth Soles come to life! Prepairing your order Our studio is a hub of activity as we pack orders, often working with 15 to 30 different colors. We maximize every scrap, and combine even the smallest pieces to create shoes for shops and orders. Phase 1 Once the leather arrives at our skilled craftswomen's homes, they cut it according to the custom or regular patterns. They glue the pieces together and create holes for stitching. The time spent varies based on the shoe's size and complexity, ranging from 1 to 1.5 hours. Watch the how-to video below! Phase 2 Phase 2 involves stitching the shoes using waxed thread. We use pliers to ease the process and ensure precision. This process takes about 1 hour. Packing & Shipping Before they embark on their journey, we pack them with your shoe bag (also made with repurposed fabric), ready to be shipped worldwide. Charity Giving Back To continue the circle of giving and receiving, we share 1% of our profit with those incredible South African NGOs: U-Turn U-Turn empowers Cape Town’s homeless with a 2-year program for skill development and job readiness. Measure Guide Our regular fit is designed for medium-width feet with rounded toes. Follow the steps below to measure your feet accurately, to see whether our regular fit suits you or if you’ll need one of our unique custom-made Earth Soles Step 1: Watch The Video Step 2: Measure Your Feet Print the measuring template here (recommended) or follow the following guidelines. For the mobile version, scroll down for visual guidance! Grab the following: - Two blank papers - Pen or pencil - Tape measure - Have a look at the image below for visual guidance 1. Draw 5 horizontal lines, each 4 cm below the other 2. Place your pen at the top line as in the image. Let your right foot touch your pen slightly, and trace your foot with the pen held upright . Avoid pushing too hard against your foot. 3. Measure your bridge Measure over the top of your foot at the 4 horizontal lines, not keeping the tape measure too tight or too loose around your feet. Note your measurements in centimeters. 4. Measure your foot length Measure in a straight vertical line from top to bottom (so not from the big toe to the bottom!) 5. Repeat for the other left foot 6. Take photos. Capture clean photos of your measurements, taken from right above. Well done! Please send us your measurements here . Step 3: Check Your Measurements - Did you measure the 4 horizontal lines over the top of your feet? - Are the horizontal lines 4 cm apart from each other? - Are the measurements in centimeters? Step 4: Send Your Measurements Send us your measurements here . Only once we have received your complete measurements we can start creating your tailor-made Earth Sole. Fit & Sizing Guide Our Earth Soles are designed to follow the shape of your feet. The regular fit is suited for medium-width feet and rounded toes. Follow the steps below to determine if our standard fit is right for you and find your perfect size! Step 1: Shape of your toes Is the shape of your toes like above? Head to step 2 If your toes shape like above, a Custom Fit is recommended Step 2: Width of your feet Medium-wide feet? Head to step 3. Narrow or wide feet? Measure at the highest point over the top of your feet (see image): Women: Our standard fit is ideal for foot widths between 17.5 cm and 21.5 cm. Men: Our standard fit is ideal for foot widths between 18.5 cm and 22.5 cm. If your width doesn't fall within this range, we recommend a Custom Fit . Step 3: Lenght of your feet What you need to measure your feet: - A4 paper - Pen - Ruler or tape measure How to: 1. Place your foot on a piece of A4 paper. 2. Loosely trace around your foot while keeping the pen upright at a 90-degree angle to the paper. 3. Measure the length of your foot in a straight line from the heel to the middle of your toes (refer to the image) 4. Do the same with your other feet, they are likely to differ! Step 4: Find your perfect size 1. Compare your measurements : Check your measurements against the chart below to find your ideal shoe size. 2. In between sizes? If your measurement falls between sizes, choose a half size. 3. Stretch allowance : Our shoes stretch approximately 10%, which is already factored into our sizing—no need to add extra length on your side. To Our Collection
